The Parliament Hill Centre Block rehabilitation is the largest heritage restoration project in Canadian history. The home of the nation’s democratic institutions (including the House of Commons and Senate chambers) has been converted into a massive construction site.

Listen and discuss with our speakers who include Justin Houle (Project Superintendent) and William Coleman (Structural Lead) from the joint venture of PCL and EllisDon as they explore the unique challenges of this multi-year project including:

  • Developing a new underground visitors centre;
  • Modernizing the existing structure to meet modern seismic and functional requirements;
  • Temporarily dismantling the building’s foundation and supporting the structure with hundreds of piles and jacks, as 90,000 cu. m. of bedrock are excavated below;
  • A seventh floor addition; and
  • A glass roof!

W?e've reserved a room at the Canadian Museum of History in Gatineau, with a background view of Parliament Hill for this special morning presentation. Enjoy some coffee, tea, and baked goods before the presentation while reconnecting with old friends and colleagues, and after the event, you can pick up a box lunch and enjoy the fall season.

The event is co-sponsored by the Ottawa Chapter of Construction Specifications Canada (CSC) and the Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals (CAHP).
